This page contains information about installing the latest Thermal Printer driver downloads using the Thermal Printer Driver Update Tool.
Thermal Printer drivers are tiny programs that enable your Thermal Printer hardware to communicate with your operating system software. Maintaining updated Thermal Printer software prevents crashes and maximizes hardware and system performance. Using outdated or corrupt Thermal Printer drivers can cause system errors, crashes, and cause your computer or hardware to fail. Furthermore, installing the wrong Thermal Printer drivers can make these problems even worse.
Recommendation: If you are inexperienced with updating Thermal Printer device drivers manually, we highly recommend downloading the Thermal Printer Driver Utility. This tool will download and update the correct Thermal Printer driver versions automatically, protecting you against installing the wrong Thermal Printer drivers.
Hello,
if you haven't resolved your issue, try this...it is for a different model, but will give you an indication of what to look for.
The second part may most apply to you.
I had a similar problem and was able to get the printer to work by uninstalling and reinstalling the software....BUT, I found for this to work, you need to go to
Control Panel...Devices and Printers...Right Click the Printer, and REMOVE it from the system.
Also, be sure to set the Compatibility Mode of the installer to Win 7 or before. XP SP3 seems to be a good universal selection.
If your drivers won't install due to an error message ...not the correct OS, you may have to EXTRACT the installer to a FOLDER, like a .zip file. You will need a program like WinZip, WinRar, 7Zip, or similar to do this.
After extracting, set the Compatibility Mode of the Setup file and any other files with a HP Logo and run it.
I'm not sure what is on your CD, I only have downloaded files to test, but by doing this, you can hopefully skip over the part of the installer that checks the OS version.
Also,
I was able to get the basic software installer for your printer to run on my machine. The file I used is the downloaded OJ8500_A910_Basic_x64_231. It took a couple of tries, but I got it to run. This may be somewhat different than your installation CD, but the basic files should be the same.

1) Find or EXTRACT from the Installer...Setup...with a HP Icon, and set the Compatibility to Win 7.
2) Find HP-DQEX5 with a CD and Folder Icon... and set the Compatibility to Win 7.

3) Find A910nx64 or x86 depending on your system with a Computer and CD Icon...this is a Windows Installer. Set it's Compatibility to Previous Versions of Windows.
4) Double click the HP Setup
Your installation CD should have more features than the download although I did find a 'FULL' download also. I didn't try it for saving time sake.
It might be a good idea to uninstall or REMOVE your printer with Devices and Printers first as mentioned in my previous reply.
One last thing...HP uses multiple installers in the actual installer package whether CD or download.
You need to find ALL 'Applications' and possibly a WINDOWS INSTALLER or two in the root (main)folder and set their Compatibility.

HP may or may not have something that works...they seem to be a bit erratic about that.
